"SonSpark Labs" VBS July 26-28 - 6:00-8:30 pm

SonSpark Labs
Five churches in Knox Township will host a community Vacation Bible School from Tuesday to Thursday, July 26-28. Sessions will be held each evening from 6:00-8:30 pm. The VBS theme is “SonSpark Labs.”

This year’s community Bible school is being hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 27485 Main St., North Georgetown. Other sponsoring churches are First Brethren of North Georgetown, Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian and Reading Church of the Brethren of Homeworth, and Bethel United Church of Christ of rural Beloit.

A light supper will be served at 5:30 pm. each day for all children and VBS staff.

Groups will be available for children from kindergarten through grade 6. All children are welcome regardless of church affiliation.

Parents are encouraged to register their children now. Advance registration is preferred and is free if completed by Sunday, July 24. (Click here for info brochure and registration form below.) Parents may call 330-428-7899 with questions and for registration prior to VBS. Walk-in registrations will also be accepted on a space available basis provided the child is accompanied by an adult when registering onsite.

“SonSpark Labs” VBS is based a science lab theme. “Kids will have a great time learning new songs, hearing Bible stories about God’s love, creating crafts, playing games, and helping with hands-on experiments,” according to V. K. Ziegler, VBS coordinator. “Explorers of all ages will find their imaginations spark to life as they research answers to universal questions.”

Each child is also invited to bring a plain, pre-washed cotton T-shirt on which a VBS decal will be applied. T-shirts that are 100% cotton are best, but they must be at least 50% cotton.

A daily offering will be received to benefit the Domestic Violence Shelter. Contributions to the offering are entirely voluntary.

“We’re looking forward to sharing this exciting time with children and their families,” said Ziegler.

Families and friends are invited to a VBS closing celebration at 8:00 pm. on Thursday, July 28, at the church.
